As a Controls and Electrical Specialist, your responsibilities will include maintaining all electrical systems according to provincial and regional codes, troubleshooting and supporting plant operations, collaborating with engineering and mechanical teams on projects, and ensuring timely completion of activities while following cGMP standards.
More about your responsibilities:
- Electrical Systems & Installation: Layout, assemble, install, repair, maintain, and test electrical systems, including fixtures, HVAC, control panels, and wiring, following blueprints, sketches, and specifications. Support new equipment installations and improvements to meet project and operational needs.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair breakdowns across plant systems, including PLCs, servos, motors, transformers, and plant support systems (BMS/BAS). Perform bench repairs for devices such as heaters, probes, and motors, and assist mechanics with equipment assembly or disassembly as needed.
- Testing & Preventative Maintenance: Conduct testing and calibration on electrical instruments to ensure proper functionality, repairing or replacing faulty assemblies. Perform preventive maintenance to support ongoing operations and reliability of plant equipment.
- Project & Validation Support: Collaborate with engineering, mechanical, and facilities teams to execute projects, participate in validation activities, and ensure designs meet standards and timelines. Work with local authorities to assess and approve electrical designs.
- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Create, read, and maintain electrical schematics, PLC programs, and technical manuals. Update work instructions for equipment, support training initiatives, and share knowledge across teams.
- Safety & Compliance Leadership: Promote and ensure safe work practices, identify unsafe conditions, and support safety and process training. Comply with all health and safety legislation, SOPs, and cGMP requirements.
- Other Duties: Undertake additional tasks or instructions as directed to support business and operational goals.
What you’ll bring

- Minimum college or university degree in technical engineering; electrical license preferred.
- CET or equivalent professional designation is an asset.
- 5+ years of experience in cGMP or related industry, working with PLCs, motors, transformers, electrical panels, and servos.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical schematics, manuals, and blueprints.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in a technical, fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous learning.
- Experience within a pharmaceutical or food environment
- Understanding/familiarity of cGM
- Experience within a regulated environment packaging/food/pharmaceutical (FDA, Health Canada)
