As an Operator, Structural & Die Design you will be tasked with delivering comprehensive design and technical assistance to the sales, customer, and production teams.  This includes the creation of structural designs (cartons, labels, medication adherence products), die design, and other design projects. 

More about your responsibilities:

  • Structural Design and Technical Support: Create technical drawings for cartons, labels, and medication adherence products, ensuring they meet client specifications, end use requirements and production requirements, produce layouts for production approval and costing, and provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Samples and Prototyping: Produce sales samples and prototypes to showcase design concepts and validate manufacturing feasibility, working closely with sales and production teams.
  • Rotary and Sheetfed Die Design: Design rotary dies and sheetfed dies based on customer and production requirements.
  • Programming, Producing, and Ordering Blankets/Mylars/Spot Sheets: Utilize CAD software to program blanket, mylar, and spot sheet designs for printing equipment. Produce or order components as required by production. 
  • Software Maintenance: Track equipment changes for visibility to the production floor and procurement. Maintain CAD software and custom libraries for the design team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying continuous improvement initiatives where applicable and maintaining and report on Key Performance Indicators.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross functional teams on product development and support the Structural Team alignment with business objectives by participating in projects and initiatives.

What you’ll bring

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Packaging & Die Design, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in packaging or die design, or relevant training within the printing/packaging industry.
  • Proficient in ArtiosCAD and CimPack.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is considered an asset.
